On Fridays we will be sharing some of our favorite things as well as yours! I love searching for the perfect cosmetics. I use to be brand loyal which worked well for me for many years, but now I am constantly searching for the best in all cosmetic items. We each have our unique styles and features that require a particular type of product. So, as we share items that we love we will also share the reasons why they work so well for us.
I found this Bobbi Brown Long-Wear Gel Eyeliner by chance. I was walking by the cosmetic counter and the gal asked if I wanted to try something new. I had never used a gel liner before but thought I would give it a try. I happen to have small eyes, so I need eye make-up that will create an illusion that my eyes are bigger than they really are. I am very active and need something that will stay on when I am bike riding or skiing. I swim too, so I like something that doesn’t smear and leave me with raccoon eyes. The Bobbi Brown gel liner fit all of the criteria! I can also create a thin line for day or have a thicker cat eye effect for evening. I chose a Cobalt Ink for a trendy color, reminiscent of the seventies, and a Caviar Ink for a bolder look. So much Fun!
If you have a favorite liner let all of our friends know here at friends favz and tell us why you like it. We may all adopt a new favorite liner and look fabulous with our new find!
” Everyone likes to feel strong and smart. That means as soon as we start to feel stretched or pushed past our limits, we hit the brakes, slam into reverse, and scoot back to our comfort zones. Who wants to risk feeling weak and stupid. ” This is from a book written by two teenagers–Alex and Brett Harris–called “Do Hard Things.”
So when friends favz adopted the One New Thing, I knew I was going to have to stretch beyond my comfort zone. So, this last week I volunteered to lead a beginning biking group. It would be great if I were a pro biker and knew all the ins and outs of biking, but I am a beginner myself. Kind of like the blind leading the blind. So, all of you on the Sammamish Trail on Wednesday mornings watch out because there will be a group of beginner bikers riding your way. I figure we have to start somewhere and by the end of summer we will be keeping up with the best of them!
Step out of your comfort zone this week and join us in doing One New Thing!
Janell and I are challenging ourselves to do One New Thing each week. Every Tuesday we will be sharing our new adventures with you and the stories that go with them. We invite you to take on the challenge with us and share with all of our friends the new thing you are doing.
The Edmonds Art Festival is a great place to spend a Sunday afternoon. Janell and I roamed the grounds of the festival looking at Juried, student and vendor art. There is something there for everyone! Enjoy your weekend and Happy Fathers Day to all the great Dads out there!
Janell and I have been stepping out of our box and trying One New Thing each week for the last year. We have been shaking up our routines and challenging ourselves to do new things big and small. Our first “One New Thing” was to start this blog. We have been learning so many new things in posting, linking, filming, and the list continues. Each time we go to post we seem to have to learn something new.
We would like to invite you to join us in doing One New Thing each week. Every Tuesday we will be reporting on our One New Thing that we have done. It all began when my cousin did One New Thing a week for a month before she turned 50. I thought this was such a fun idea Janell and I decided to incorporate it here at friends favz. Your One New Thing could be going for a walk on a trail you have never been on before, ordering a different kind of coffee, going to an event or starting a new class. It seems silly but it is amazing how something so small can inspire you and give a little boost in your day. In doing so, we have found so many new favorite things that we love to share with our friends.
So, for this week my One New Thing is trying out a new gym. I have been a member at the YMCA for 16 years. One of my sons asked if we could switch and join the local Golds Gym. My first thought was, why switch when I am so comfortable going to the Y. I realized I would have to step out of my comfort zone and explore a new place, new faces, and a new routine. When we were young we did new things like this on a daily basis and were excited about it. Ok, in the name of keeping youthful I am going to try a new gym and be excited about it. Wish me luck and I will let you know how it goes next Tuesday as we start our One New Thing on Tuesdays!
Come take the challenge with us here on friendsfavz and try One New Thing each week. We would love to hear your stories, or post a picture of your new experience. The weekend is a great time to try something new, go someplace you have never been or take on a new experience.
See you on Tuesday for One New Thing!
Karen and Janell
Friends favz is all about the things we love and want to share with our friends. Here John is enjoying his passion of fly fishing with his friends, Craig, Drew and Marilyn in Sun Valley, Idaho. A guide took them to Silver Creek where a beaver dam backs up one of the tributary streams. John has seen rainbows and browns as large as 30 inches in these sluggish pools. If you are interested in fly fishing in Sun Valley it is a good idea to seek out one of the many guides in the area. They know all the best spots!
If you love fishing tell us here at friends favz what is your favorite spot.
